Here is one very unique automobile!! Check out this 1964 Volkwagen Westfalia Series 23 Camper Van. The Volkwagen "Minibus" as it is known in the states, was only the second production Volkswagen model after the original Beetle. Internally known as the T2, as in Type 2(Type 1 being the Beetle), it was originally designed in 1949, with the first van being produced in November of that same year. Based on a Beetle floorpan, and sharing the same wheelbase, the T2 was the first "Forward Control" van with the driver sitting over the front wheels. This design set the stage for many imitators, including Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet, and many European models also. The T2 has a rear engine placement, driving the rear wheels. It is an air cooled 1600 CC flat four cylinder. The engine is mated with a manual "stick shift" transmission, feeding power to the rear wheels. Volkwagen sent the freshly built T2 vans off the assembly line to an established modification company called Westafalia-Werke in Reda-Wiedenbruck, Germany for the camper modifications. Westfalia offered a number of optional modifications, most of which this particular example recieved. Inside you will find fully carpeted and laminated wood interior panels. There are roll up blinds covering the windows. There is a refrigerator and microwave built into a custom cabinet with a fold up table to work on. If you find yourself hungry or want to play cards, there is a wooden table with a vinyl covered bench on one side and a vinyl covered chair on the other to eat or play on. If you're tired, you can find peaceful resting on the built in Westphalia "Rock and Roll" bed at the very back. On board also is a high output power inverter, so you can use and charge all your favorite electronic devices while on the road. Above the seats you will find an oscillating fan to help keep the cabin cool. If the weather is particularly nice, you can "pop" the top and "raise the roof" for added interior space and better air flow. If you like to have your stereo loud and clear while driving or camping, this van has you covered with a 13 speaker "Blaupunkt" stereo system. This van has literally everything but the kitchen sink!! On the outside, the paint finish is absolutely gorgeous. This "minibus" has received a very costly and detailed restoration. During the the restoration, all new metal "German" metal panels were installed, with no filler being used. There is no rust at all to be found anywhere on this amazing van. The roof rack is original to the van, while the pop up unit received new custom canvas. The dark blue and white paint finish is less than two years old, and was painted using only top quality materials by a top-line professional body shop. The bumpers are painted white and contrast nicely with the blue finish, while the chrome wheels and Bridgestone "Redline" tires(using an original 1965 mold) add a nice bit of "pop" to the overall presentation. The engine has been freshly rebuilt, including new heads and "jugs". It features Bosch electronic ignition and dual Weber carburetors. This engine has less than 50 total miles since being rebuilt. The transaxle and gearbox have also been rebuilt, and new swing arms installed. The brakes have been completely replaced, front and rear, including new drums, shoes, lines, master cylinder, bearings and seals. The front steering system also was rebuilt, and new front shock absorbers were installed. This van needs nothing, and is ready to go. In its 60 plus years on the road, it has seen everything from California to Florida, and even the Alaskan pipe line. There are so many good miles and amazing adventures to be had at the wheel of this awesome Volkswagen. If this is an adventure you would like to begin, call or email Sales@Burnyzz.com today!!!
