1966 FORD FAIRLANE

This beautiful 1966 Ford Fairlane is the very definition of the term "Muscle Car". In the early 1960's, the term "muscle car" was used to describe a low option, big engine bruiser. And the Whimbledon white Fairlane you see here could very well be pictured in Webster's dictionary next to the definition. This gorgeous Fairlane(named after Henry Ford's estate in Michigan) looks fast sitting still. The rake of the suspension gives the impression that the car is launching hard out of the hole, and the plain white wrapper makes this one heck of a sleeper. The only clue to this cars potential is the functional fiberglass hood scoop forcing air into the engine. All you need is some sponsor decals, and this muscle machine would look ready for the NHRA Super Stocks!! The painted steel wheels with center caps give the car a purposeful look, while the BFG tires do their best to put all that power and torque to the ground. Featuring a 410CI Ford FE block V-8 bored over by .040", this Fairlane is just itching for some competition. The Ford FE block was the most potent Ford engine in the 1960's. In 427CI guise, this engine won every contest it entered. Mario Andretti drove an FE to win the Daytona 500, The Ford "Thunderbolt" gave Ford the Super Stock title in the NHRA, and when Ford won at LeMans with a 1-2-3 finish in 1966, all three Ford GT's had FE engines. To say this engine was a real winner would be an understatement. Even popular movie cars of the times, including the "Batmobile" and the "Green Hornet" had Ford FE engines. In stock form in 66', the 410CI FE was rated at 330hp. This mill however has received some improvements in the form of a .040" bigger bore, a bigger 4 barrel carburetor, a medium rise aluminum intake manifold, and long tube headers. Mated with a Ford 3-speed "Cruise-O-Matic" transmission, this Fairlane is ready to run for "pinks" on the street, or fortune at the track. This Fairlane has been fully restored, and has great fit and finish. The black vinyl interior looks like the day it was new. The period correct column mounted tachometer, and under dash gauge pod lend a racy appeal to the inside. The only thing this beauty needs is a new owner to care for and enjoy it.
